Shhh — How to Conduct an Incognito Job Search on LinkedIn
It’s always easier to find your next position when you are still employed. The very first thing you do when you’re considering a career move is update and optimize your LinkedIn profile. This is how recruiters find you and the first place they look when you apply for a job. But you don’t want to broadly indicate your intentions either directly or through social media. Before you make any changes to your LinkedIn Profile:
- Under the “Me” heading in the toolbar select “Settings and Privacy”.
- Scroll down to the “How Others See Your LinkedIn Activity” section.
- Next to the “Share job changes, education changes, and work anniversaries from profile” make sure the toggle button on the right is set to “No”.
Now when you update your information no one in your network will be notified.
