Interviewer: So tell me about yourself
You: I’m brilliant, high energy, and I never make a mistake

Unfortunately this won’t work. But what will work is a well-prepared oral profile that highlights personal attributes that align with the role you are seeking. For example:

  • Share your personality but no personal details. Briefly mention the interests and hobbies that demonstrate your intellectual development or altruism. Avid reader, flute player, or community volunteer.
  • Emphasize activities that reflect discipline and determination. Activities like marathon training, mountain climbing, and competitive sports are great personal attributes.
  • Finally, align your personal activities and interests with the job responsibilities.

Your interviewer has read your resume and is not asking this question to hear about your professional life. This question gives you the opportunity to paint a positive and compelling personal picture using small stories and analogies.
