Display Your Gifts – Not the Fancy Package, Keep your resume simple, clean, and focused

Forget fancy graphics, colors, and fonts. A simple format with the right content will move you into the first round with a recruiter or hiring executive. Most importantly:

  • Remember that your resume will likely be processed with an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) – the human at the other end will look at this output first. Ensure that your resume is easy to decipher.
  • One-page resumes are not reasonable for established professionals. You may need two pages to adequately convey your background and experience.
  • Don’t try to cram more words into less space – edit and then edit again.
  • Keywords and phrases are essential for the machine that will be scanning your resume.
